Wimbledon Betting Tips & Predictions

Wimbledon, the sporting showpiece of the summer for many in Britain, is almost upon us and Carlos Alcaraz is bidding to etch his name in history by becoming only the fifth man to claim three successive All England Club titles during the Open era.

Alcaraz heads to his Wimbledon title defence in blistering form, having added his fifth Grand Slam title at the French Open earlier this month before following up at Queen’s Club, and has every reason to be feeling optimistic in his hat-trick bid.

Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the two male players taking the game to new heights in the decline of Novak Djokovic and, having shared the last six Grand Slam titles between them, are again expected to dominate.

However, the women’s competition is far less conclusive - the last eight Wimbledon titles have been claimed by someone different - and world number one Aryna Sabalenka heads the betting despite having not yet secured a piece of grass-court silverware.

The last two winners of the women’s Wimbledon hailed from the Czech Republic, with Marketa Vondrousova claiming her maiden Grand Slam in 2023 before Barbora Krejcikova triumphed 12 months ago.

Tip 1 - Carlos Alcaraz to win Wimbledon @ 23/20

It is beginning to become a bit of a coin toss between Alcaraz and Sinner in Grand Slam competition, with the pair having won the last six Majors between them and starting to become utterly dominant.

With seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic now 38 and without a Grand Slam title since the 2023 US Open and home favourite Jack Draper still looking a bit off the level required, the illustrious duo of Alcaraz and Sinner are clearly the pair to focus on.

Alcaraz saved three match points as he beat world number one Sinner in a thrilling five-set French Open final earlier this month and he has had the Italian’s measure in recent times, prevailing in five of their last six rivalries.

A second Queen’s Club title in the space of three seasons is the perfect preparation for Alcaraz’s Wimbledon hat-trick and it means that he has lost only one of his last 26 matches on the grass.

Tip 2 - Marketa Vondrousova each-way @ 12/1

As has proved the case in recent years, there is an open feel to the women’s Wimbledon title, with world number one Sabalenka having yet to claim a grass-court title and four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek clearly at her best on her beloved clay.

Sabalenka has the power to blow the opposition away on her day, but she is far from concrete, with both of her Wimbledon semi-final appearances to date resulting in defeat, while she has also finished runner-up at both the Australian Open and the French Open already this season.

Elena Rybakina, the All England Club champion in 2022, is back playing at a high level but she looks shorter than merited, as does American ace Coco Gauff, who has yet to go beyond the fourth round in five previous attempts.

Therefore, the each-way value could lie with 2023 winner Vondrousova, who was also runner-up at the 2019 French Open, but who has been plagued by injury.

However, this is a surface that brings out the best in the hard-hitting Czech performer and she claimed silverware on the grass of Berlin in preparation, defeating the likes of Madison Keys, Diana Shnaider, Ons Jabeur and Sabalenka to show that she has returned to rude health.
