Australian Open Betting Tips
The first Grand Slam of the 2026 season sees tennis’s elite head to Melbourne Park for the Australian Open and, while the men’s competition could have a familiar look to it, the women’s event looks wide open with cases to be made for plenty.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz remain the dominant forces on the ATP Tour, having shared the last eight Grand Slam titles equally between them, and it is difficult to see how one of that illustrious duo won’t be crowned champion at the Rod Laver Arena.
Aryna Sabalenka is the player to beat in the women’s draw, having been champion in 2023 and 2024, but the world number one was halted by Madison Keys in last season’s final and there are notable dangers to her supremacy.
The action down under gets underway on Sunday 18th January and we have three tips to get involved with during the fortnight of fun.
Tip 1 - Jannik Sinner to win the Australian Open Men’s @ 17/20
Rather than entering a warm-up tournament in preparation for the Australian Open, Alcaraz and Sinner headed to South Korea to play in an exhibition event, but there is still an inevitable feeling that they could be headed for a fourth straight Grand Slam final rivalry.
World number one Alcaraz is aiming to claim his first title in Melbourne, a feat that would complete the career Grand Slam and make the 22-year-old the youngest man ever to do so.
However, the Spaniard’s recent split with long-time coach Juan Carlos Ferrero seems strange timing given his dominant success - he is already a six-time Grand Slam winner - and Sinner has had the upper hand in Melbourne.
The pair spur one another on and the Italian is the two-time defending champion at the Australian Open, having defeated Daniil Medvedev in the 2024 final before following up against Alexander Zverev last year.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, has failed to go beyond the quarter-final in four previous trips to Australia, suffering last-eight exits to Zverev and Novak Djokovic in the last two seasons.
Tip 2 - Coco Gauff to win the Australian Open Women’s @ 10/1
When on-song, Coco Gauff has the ability to match the likes of Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek and the American looks a leading contender in her pursuit of a third Grand Slam crown.
Gauff won last season’s French Open, following on from her US Open success in 2023, and her straight-sets victory over Swiatek at the United Cup last week suggests that the American is in fine form.
The 21-year-old thrives on the quicker surface and she has a respectable recent record at Melbourne Park, making the semi-finals in 2024 before a quarter-final run last season.
That shows that Gauff can start a season strongly and, with the proven credentials to get over the line in a major, her power and athleticism could carry her far.
Tip 3 - Karolina Muchova to win the Australian Open Women’s @ 30/1
Sabalenka, having made three straight Australian Open finals and warmed up with victory in Brisbane, is the one to beat but Karolina Muchova looks a fascinating contender at a nice price.
Muchova is currently the world number 19 but she has been as high as world number eight and is a former Grand Slam runner-up, having lost to Swiatek in the 2023 French Open final.
The Czech player has also made three Grand Slam semi-finals on a hard court, one of which came at the 2021 Australian Open, and she has had a decent preparation for Melbourne.
Muchova made the final four in Brisbane, losing to eventual champion Sabalenka, but that came after wins over world number 11 Ekaterina Alexandrova and former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina and she would be dangerous to dismiss.
