It’s Tingle Creek day at Sandown on Saturday and the feature contest is set to be a cracker, with last year’s winner Jonbon, Celebration Chase scorer Il Etait Temps and Shloer Chase victor L’Eau Du Sud all lining up.

There is further Grade 1 action at Sandown on Saturday in the shape of the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase (13:50), which is run over the same course and distance as the Tingle Creek (15:00).

There are seven races in all at Sandown on Saturday and we have selected our best bets.

12:10 - Claremont Novices' Hurdle (Listed, 2m)

There are a few exciting prospects in the line-up, but none more so than SOBER GLORY, who extended his unbeaten record under rules to four when comfortably justifying odds-on favouritism with a 12-length romp on his hurdling debut at Chepstow last month.

It's hard to know what he beat, but this Listed bumper scorer did it impressively and he sets the standard.

Selection: Sober Glory

12:43 - Pride Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2m4f)

Dan Skelton has made a good start to the season and can continue that fine form with MISS CYNTHIA, who is a new recruit to the yard having previously been with Lucy Wadham.

She did well last season, winning a handicap at Market Rasen before finishing second in a Listed mares' novice in February, but hasn't been seen pulling up in that class at Cheltenham in April.

She’s been given wind surgery ahead of her stable debut and should have more to offer in handicaps.

Selection: Miss Cynthia

13:20 - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (2m7½f)

Qualifiers for the Pertemps Final are always competitive but ABSOLUTELY DOYEN is on a roll and is now unbeaten in three starts since joining Paul Nicholls. He travelled strongly before readily pulling six lengths clear to defy top weight in an 3m½f handicap hurdle at Ascot last time and an 8lb rise may well underestimate him. Selection: Absolutely Doyen 13:50 - Betfair Henry VIII Novices' Chase (Grade 1, 1m7½f) Lulamba could prove hard to beat in receipt of weight, but I'm convinced he'll be better over further and I'd rather side with LUMP SUM, who was one of the smartest two-mile hurdlers around last season. He made a seamless transition to fences when bolting up at Uttoxeter in October, readily pulling 16 lengths clear of subsequent winner Jax Junior, and looks an exciting prospect. Selection: Lump Sum 14:25 - Bet At Your Best With Betfair Handicap Hurdle (2m) Although having not won since February 2024, AFADIL ran some huge races in defeat last season, notably being beaten just half a length in the Imperial Cup over course and distance. He looks well treated off a 2lb lower mark and is expected to take a big step forward from his first start after a break and wind surgery last month. Selection: Afadil 15:00 - Betfair Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1, 1m7½f) Having looked mightily impressive when returning from 359 days off to beat Jonbon in the Celebration Chase over course and distance in April, IL ETAIT TEMPS can confirm his superiority once again. He cruised to an 18-length victory in the Clonmel Oil Chase on his reappearance and looks the one to beat. Selection: Il Etait Temps 15:35 - Betfair Exchange London National Handicap Chase (3m4½f) The extra emphasis on stamina should play to the strengths of O'CONNELL, who shaped encouragingly on his return from almost nine months off when third in a 3m2f handicap chase at Carlisle last time. He was a major improver for the yard last season, completing a hat-trick when landing a 3m handicap chase here in February, before faring best of those behind an impressive winner in the Eider Chase. He is entitled to strip fitter for his reappearance. Selection: O’Connell
