UEFA Nations League Finals Predictions
There are two cracking National League semi-finals to look forward to this week with Germany hosting Portugal and France travelling to Spain.
These are two clashes between four European heavyweights before the final takes place on Sunday.
Bet 1: Germany to beat Portugal @ 4/5
Germany will have the benefit of home advantage when Portugal head for the Allianz Arena on Wednesday and Julian Nagelsmann’s men should make it count.
DFB bossed the league phase of the competition going unbeaten in a section containing Netherlands, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That was a stronger performance from Germany and a finishing goals tally of 18-4 suggests that Nagelsmann’s men were good value for their table topping exploits.
It’s eight competitive matches without defeat for DFB, who downed a strong Italy side in the quarter-finals of the Nations League and it’s difficult to see Portugal stopping Germany in Munich.
The Selecao were comfortable winners of Group A1, but there was less to do against Poland, Scotland and Croatia.
Rudi Garcia’s side were beaten 1-0 in Denmark in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final and there is more to do in Munich on Wednesday.
Bet 2: Spain to beat France @ 7/5
France were pretty fortunate to book their spot in the Nations League Finals after finishing level on points with Italy and Les Bleus look opposable in Spain.
Didier Deschamps’ men needed a penalty shootout to get past Croatia in the quarter-finals and a 2-0 defeat in Split, where the French looked wide open defensively, certainly wasn’t a convincing effort.
Deschamps is long-serving and after France’s pretty poor showing at Euro 2024 there is a feeling that Les Bleus may benefit from a fresh approach.
Spain bossed the group stage of this competition in taking 16 points from a section containing Denmark, Serbia and Switzerland and, although La Roja were made to work by quarter-final opponents the Netherlands, that looks pretty strong form.
Luis de la Fuente’s men should see off the challenge of France in Stuttgart.
