Premier League Betting Preview - GW 23

17th January 2020

Manchester United fans would love nothing more than to inflict the first Premier League defeat of the season on Liverpool in their own back yard. However, Liverpool have been majestic at Anfield (and everywhere else to be fair), so it would take a monumental effort from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to get anything out of this. Elsewhere this weekend, there is a huge battle at the bottom as 20th placed Norwich City take on 19th placed Bournemouth.

Remember that here at LeoVegas, we list Premier League betting tips for each week of the season. There are also the latest online betting odds for all of the matches in the English and Scottish leagues, plus football betting tips for matches around the world. That’s not forgetting sports betting for a whole host of other brilliant sports too.

Now, here are some of our selected tips & odds for the Premier League Gameweek 23.

Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur - 12:30pm 18th January

Watford are in a fantastic run of form and have completely turned the corner since Nigel Pearson came in, winning four of their last five Premier League games. Tottenham seem to be heading the other way though and things may already be unravelling for Jose Mourinho. Although Spurs have an excellent overall record against Spurs, in this fixture last season it was Watford that claimed a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road. Could we see something similar this time around?

WATFORD TO WIN - ODDS: 23/10

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace - 3:00pm 18th January

Manchester City absolutely destroyed a poor Aston Villa side last week and showed absolutely no mercy. Things were so easy for them that Pep Guardiola was able to take off his key man Kevin De Bruyne for a bit of a rest just after the hour mark, after another two assists for the Belgian ace. Crystal Palace will have good memories of the Etihad Stadium though, after their immense 1-3 win there last season. It would take some effort to replicate that on Saturday though.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE TO GIVE AN ASSIST - ODDS: 9/10

Norwich City vs Bournemouth - 3:00pm 18th January

You don’t need us to point out that things aren’t going well this season for either of these two teams. Just take one look at the Premier League table, where Norwich sit bottom and Bournemouth are now only one place above them after an alarming slide. Not only are the Cherries conceding loads of goals, they are also struggling to score with main striker Callum Wilson going 14 league games without scoring. Norwich seem more of a threat, and will be looking to make home advantage count here.

NORWICH CITY TO WIN - ODDS: 23/20

Southampton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers - 3:00pm 18th January

Incredibly there are now only three points separating these two sides. Who would have thought that a month or two ago? Danny Ings is in unbelievable form and has to be a shoe-in for the next England squad when it is announced. Southampton’s number 9 has scored 10 goals in his last 10 Premier League starts and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. Wolves defenders will have to make sure they don’t give him a single chance to shoot at goal.

DANNY INGS TO SCORE - ODDS: 11/10

Arsenal vs Sheffield United - 3:00pm 18th January

There is no doubt that Arsenal are putting more effort in since the appointment of Mikel Arteta, but there is still a lack of quality in certain areas. Sheffield United will not fear a trip to the Emirates, and they may feel as if they were a little bit unlucky to lose at both Anfield and the Etihad recently. Without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through suspension and with the Blades’ solid defence, this could be a frustrating afternoon for the Gunners.

UNDER 2.5 GOALS - ODDS: 41/50

West Ham United vs Everton - 3:00pm 18th January

David Moyes hosts his former club on Saturday, where he had a lot of good times. He’ll be desperate to beat Everton here though, as his West Ham side need the points in order to try and move away from the bottom of the Premier League table. For the Blues, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has played brilliantly under Carlo Ancelotti so far and although he tried to score with his arm last week, he will be a threat to the West Ham defence with his movement and heading ability.

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN TO SCORE - ODDS: 9/5

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Aston Villa - 3:00pm 18th January

Brighton will be looking for three points to try and put a six point gap between themselves and the bottom three here. The Seagulls love dominating possession under Graham Potter, particularly at home. This is jarring on the eye still, as it is the completely opposite to how previous boss Chris Hughton set his side up. If Aston Villa are to win, they will likely be looking for some magic from Jack Grealish on the counter attack. We’re expecting Pepe Reina to be the busier goalkeeper though, presuming he makes his Villa debut.

OVER 5.5 TOTAL SHOTS ON TARGET BY BRIGHTON - ODDS: 3/5

Newcastle United vs Chelsea - 5:30pm 18th January

Newcastle have not won in the league since before Christmas, when Palace came to town. Although Chelsea can be very hit and miss, boss Frank Lampard will have to be targeting this game as a must win if they want to qualify for the CHampions League again next season. Blues striker Tammy Abraham has had a fantastic season so far, scoring 13 goals from 29 shots on target. It is likely that his Chelsea teammates will create plenty of chances for him against a Newcastle side that like to sit back, even when playing at St James’ Park.

TAMMY ABRAHAM TO SCORE - ODDS:19/20

Burnley vs Leicester City - 2:00pm 19th January

Brendan Rodgers will surely have made it known that Leicester’s performance last week against Southampton was not acceptable and they will be looking to get their top four challenge back on track here. It’s a good fixture for them too, as Burnley have completely lost any sort of form and have lost their last four Premier League games in a row. Leicester have won the last two meetings between the sides and there is a clear gulf in class here.

LEICESTER TO SCORE OVER 2.5 GOALS - ODDS: 29/10

Liverpool vs Manchester United - 4:30pm 19th January

Liverpool have won an incredible 21 out of 22 Premier League games so far this season, but the only side to take points off them so far are their old foes Manchester United. The Red Devils are the visitors to Anfield on Sunday as well, though they may be without their main goal threat Marcus Rashford through injury. There are no such problems for Jurgen Klopp though, as he has all of his main players available. Salah, Mane and Firmino could cause a weak Man United defence so many problems.

LIVERPOOL TO SCORE OVER 2.5 GOALS - ODDS: 6/4
