There were a few postponements in GW16, but the Premier League have vowed to carry on, much to the delight of the fans. Elite sport is much needed in order to provide entertainment at a tough time, and we have some great fixtures coming up this time around. Manchester United are now only three points behind leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand. As ever, we have all of the Premier League previews and the latest UK sports betting odds right here at LeoVegas.
The first Premier League game of the New Year comes in the form of West Ham’s trip to Goodison Park. David Moyes can’t be too happy with the amount of rest time his side have had compared to their opponents. The Hammers played on Tuesday night at Southampton, while Everton’s game vs Man City was called off. At this time of year, having fresh legs can be crucial, which leads us to believe the Toffees will come out on top.
After a great run of form, Man United have climbed to 2nd in the Premier League and could go joint top for a while if they win this game. Just like the Red Devils of old, they found a way to win against Wolves thanks to a deflected last minute Marcus Rashford strike. This may prove to be a difficult game too, as Aston Villa have been fantastic this season. They were unlucky not to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday and look like a really strong unit. As long as Bruno Fernandes is in the team though, Man United will also be good for goals.
Spurs also had their match called off at the last minute on Wednesday, but they face a side that haven’t shown any signs of fatigue at all so far. Leeds played the same team against West Brom that had played a few days earlier, and they won 5-0. It could have been more too, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side looked on top form. Tactically, this might be the most intriguing game of the weekend. Jose Mourinho likes his sides to counter-attack, while Bielsa is highly unlikely to change Leeds’ all-out attacking style. Goals should be flowing.
Runs of form don’t get much worse than these two, with Sheffield United obviously in a much worse position. They’ve had the worst start in the history of the English top-flight and are already 12 points from safety. Crystal Palace are in a much safer position with five wins from 16, but they haven’t won in their last five games. There are some good young players at Selhurst Park, and now is probably the time for Roy Hodgson to fully put his faith in them. Considering the Blades can’t buy a point, we’re going for Palace to win.
Speaking of sides in poor form, Brighton haven’t won in the Premier League since the 21st November. Wolves have also been very hit and miss so far, sitting 12th in the table and not looking particularly exciting. They are still without their main man, Raul Jimenez, with an unknown return date for the Mexican striker, so Wolves will have to be a bit more clever to find their goals instead. We think this one will be low scoring though.
Sam Allardyce tried to get a dig in on Arsenal a few weeks back when he said the Gunners were in a relegation battle with his West Brom side, but he’s ended up being the laughing stock after the Baggies’ pummeling from Leeds. Funnily enough, Arsenal may now be playing themselves into a bit of form with two wins in a row out of nowhere. We’re backing them to win this one as well, as long as Mikel Arteta has his top young stars such as Bukayo Saka available.
It’s going to be 0-0, isn’t it? Best not to waste too much time on this one.
Newcastle surprised everyone with a 0-0 shutout of Liverpool, with Karl Darlow yet again putting on a 10/10 performance. The English keeper has competition again from previous number 1, Martin Dubravka, but Darlow is playing so well that he’s undroppable. For Leicester, Jamie Vardy was rested in the game at Palace on Monday, so the Fox in the Box should be more than ready to run at a tired Newcastle defence. It’s another game where one side has way more rest than the other, but Leicester won’t be complaining.
At the time of writing, it seems as if this game will still go ahead. Man City have now returned to training, which is excellent news. Chelsea seem to have fallen apart recently, while Man City have won their last two. We’re not entirely sure who’ll be missing for the visitors, but Chelsea may also be without key players like Reece James. As it’s so difficult to call, we’re going to sit on the fence and go for a draw.
Southampton are only three points off the top four after a fantastic start to the season from Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side. Liverpool were looking very comfortable at the top of the league before they kicked off against West Brom on Sunday, but shock draws against the Baggies and Newcastle have brought their rivals a lot closer. Sadio Mane loved playing on the south coast in the red and white of Southampton, but he has also scored at St Mary’s for Liverpool on his return. We’re backing him to do so again on Monday.

One look at our Premier League online betting markets will tell you that there is a fantastic selection to bet on. In order to find the necessary page, you can use the Search button on the App or via Mobile, while users on Desktop can take advantage of the Filter feature by clicking on ‘Browse Sports’.
Once there, you will see all of the latest Premier League matches ready to place a bet on, with the Win/Draw/Win odds being clearly displayed. Clicking either will add it straight into your betslip. As you would expect, odds are available for all 380 games throughout each and every season, as all 20 sides play 38 times. Whether you believe Liverpool are going to stroll to an easy win against Burnley or West Ham United are going to pull off a shock victory over Manchester City, LeoVegas will list the odds.
We also work on getting the odds updated for each match as soon as we can, meaning you can look ahead a few weeks in advance to see what your ideal bets might be.
In terms of the betting markets that are available for each individual match, there are often hundreds of different bets you can place. Some of the most popular betting markets on the site often include the Full Time Result, Total Goals, Both Teams To Score, Double Chance and Correct Score. Got a feeling about a particular scoreline? You can find the betting odds for it. Think that one team is solid defensively and won’t concede? You can place a bet on Both Teams To Score - No.
Looking a bit deeper into the odds for each game, there are more specific markets such as the Exact Winning Margin for a particular team or how you think the result might look at half time. Handicap markets can help level the playing field between one of the top teams and a lower side, for example giving Southampton a few goal head start against Chelsea.
Plus, if betting on Corners or Cards is more your thing then you may want to take a look at those markets specifically with the options of Total Corners and a Red Card to be awarded as just some of the options. More into player betting? You can bet on a player to score the first goal, last goal, to score any time and not to score in a match. Player specials are also available here at LeoVegas, such as to score and give an assist in the same game, or to score and get booked.
By scrolling to the bottom of a Premier League betting page, you can find some unique markets such as a penalty kick to be awarded or one of the teams to win both halves. One thing is for sure, when betting on a Premier League match here at LeoVegas, you will have plenty of markets to choose from.
As well as individual match betting, you can place outright bets on the Premier League too. The Premier League Winner market will of course always be the main focus for many people, so it is up to you whether you believe it is Liverpool’s year or whether Manchester City are going to dominate. After the shock success of Leicester City in 2015/16 though, it could be one of the outsiders that lift the trophy.
The Top Goalscorer across the season is also a very popular market here at LeoVegas, where you can pick out your favourite striker to grab the most goals. It could be that you expect Harry Kane to go on a magnificent scoring run, or maybe you believe the Vardy party will be back for another year. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are likely to be in the hunt too, so could it be one of Liverpool’s star attackers? The choice is yours.
Many fans often get emotionally invested in the managerial sack race, and LeoVegas often list Football Betting Tips and odds for the next manager to leave their post. With the money involved in the Premier League and the stakes at an all-time high, the pressure is always on bosses to deliver. Who will be able to withstand the heat?
We have listed a number of fantastic betting odds and markets for the Premier League here but we have so much more as well. To check out everything we have to offer for the “greatest league in the world”, head to our Premier League betting page.
