PDC Home Tour Darts Betting Odds & Preview

16th April 2020

The Professional Darts Corporation announced this week that they were introducing their latest event: the PDC Home Tour. This gives some of the top players in world darts the opportunity to get back to winning ways in an extremely unique format. The Home Tour will feature a brilliant initial 32 consecutive nights of darts action, streaming live from the homes of each player.

What Is The PDC Home Tour Format?

Played over 32 consecutive nights beginning on Friday 17th April, with all PDC Tour Card holders eligible to play in the event. Four players are in action on each night, with all four competitors in a group facing each other once and a winner will be crowned on each night.

After the initial 32 nights of action have come to an end, the 32 group winners will then advance through to the second phase of the event. Each night’s darts begins at 7:30pm UK time and will be available to watch via live stream.

The rules for each match are as follows:

Each match is best of nine legs

Each win is worth two points

In the event of a tiebreak in the group, leg difference, results between players and overall average will be used.

Which Darts Players Are Involved?

At the time of writing, we know the first four groups.

Group One - Friday 17th April

The biggest name in the list of players taking part from the start is the current World Darts Champion Peter Wright, who starts the event by playing against Peter Jacques from Yorkshire on Friday 17th April. Wright will be a huge favourite not just for the match, but for the group as well. This is a Group One contest, with the other players being Jamie Lewis and Niels Zonneveld.

Group Two - Saturday 18th April

Group Two sees the Grand Slam of Darts champion Gerwyn Price as the big 11/20 favourite, in a group with a young average age. He will get started against Rowby-John Rodriguez of Austria, with Luke Woodhouse and Ted Evatts facing each other too. Anything other than progression for the Iceman Price would be a big surprise.

Group Three - Sunday 19th April

Group Three may be a bit closer than the others, at least that’s what the online betting odds suggest. Dave Chisnall is the favourite at 4/5, with Chizzy looking to take his late 2019 form into this event after a lengthy break. Scott Waites is his closest challenger and first opponent with group winner odds of 5/2. The outsiders in Group Three are Jan Dekker and Jonathan Worsley.

Group Four - Monday 20th April

This is much more open as there is no real “big name” player in the list. Ross Smith was a UK Open Quarter-Finalist in 2019 and goes in as Group favourite, taking on outsider Lisa Ashton in the first match on Monday. The other challengers in Group Four are Northern Irish player Mickey Mansell and Dutchman Geert Nenjes.
