Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich Betting Tips

7th November 2019

Three matches across Europe have caught the attention of LeoVegas this weekend in terms of their online betting odds, with some familiar foes and historical rivals doing battle on the pitch once more, as they attempt to live up to their pre-season potential, or improve upon their current predicament.

Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund - 5:30pm, 9th November

The first game in our European Football Betting Tips list sees familiar rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund facing off in the Bundesliga for the first time since April. Last season, Bayern pipped their opposition to the prize of the domestic league title by a mere two points, which was helped in part by their 5-0 demolition of Dortmund in the corresponding fixture, as goals from Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski (2), Javi Martinez, and Serge Gnabry impressed the home fans at a sold out Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich only lost four matches on their way to the trophy, but this season they’ve already lost two, including 5-1 away to Eintracht Frankfurt in their most recent game. A 2-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League will have restored some joy, but they’ll still need a win here to really put their campaign back on the right track.

Bayern Munich to Score Over 2.5 Goals - ODDS: 27/20

Making the long journey from the North-Rhine Westphalia down to Bavaria, Borussia Dortmund occupy 2nd place in the Bundesliga ahead of this meeting, and they will be looking to close the gap on surprise leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. Unbeaten in eight league games, Dortmund will also be bolstered by three straight wins in all competitions, including a 3-2 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage, which was all the more impressive as they were 2-0 down at half-time. That said, Dortmund haven’t won at Bayern Munich since the 2013-14 season (when they ultimately finished 19 points adrift of eventual champions Bayern), so this might be too tough of an ask for them. In the five away league meetings since then, they’ve conceded at least four goals on four occasions, but given that Bayern don’t even currently have a manager since Niko Kovac’s sacking, they might be understandably wary of the away side.

Juventus v AC Milan - 7:45pm, 10th November

Juventus and AC Milan are historic rivals in Serie A, although their respective positions suggest this won’t be a title clash. Following their imposed relegation to Serie B in 2006, Juventus had to rebuild their reputation. They finally won Serie A again in 2012, for the first time since 2003 (their 2005 championship was also ripped from them), and while they deserved that accolade, even the most ardent of Juventus fans probably wouldn’t have predicted the dynasty that was unfolding. The 2018-19 campaign saw the Old Lady secure their eighth title in a row, and the unstoppable juggernaut looks as if it may romp to success this year as well, even at this early stage. They’ve only dropped four points so far - in away draws with Fiorentina and Lecce - and since their 2012 invincible campaign Juventus have only been unbeaten at this stage once, which was last season when they didn’t lose a game until March. They’ll be confident as they welcome AC Milan to the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus to Score in Both Halves - ODDS: 5/4

When AC Milan lifted the Serie A title for the eighteenth time in 2011, few would have predicted that they wouldn’t win it again within the following eight years, particularly when they finished 2nd and 3rd in the two subsequent seasons. Even more surprising is the fact that their final position in 2013 would be the last time they would finish in the top four in the Italian top flight. They’ve slowly been improving since their lowly 10th placed finish in 2015, and finishing a mere point behind Atalanta and Inter Milan last season will have hurt. They’ve not channeled that frustration this season though, as they’ve lost six of their first eleven matches (they only lost eight over the entirety of last term), their most losses at this stage of a Serie A season since 1942. AC Milan haven’t won against Juventus in Turin since 2011, which could mean that they’re due one, but it would be a massive upset.

AC Milan Over 3.5 Total Cards - ODDS: 9/10

Marseille v Lyon - 8:00pm, 10th November

Rewind a decade and this was a fiery top-of-the-table clash between two of the best teams that Ligue 1 had to offer. These days, it doesn’t quite carry the same weight, although bragging rights are still massively important. Marseille last won the league in 2010, but haven’t finished higher than 4th since 2013. They finished 5th last season, behind Lille, Saint-Etienne, and this weekend’s opposition, Lyon, but they will take heart from the fact that so far they have beaten the other two when they’ve welcomed them to the Stade Velodrome this campaign; 1-0 v Saint-Etienne at the start of September, and 2-1 v Lille in their match last Saturday. While Paris Saint-Germain seem too far far gone in Ligue 1, Marseille have Angers and Nantes firmly in their crosshairs, and if results go their way they could move up to second by Monday morning.

Marseille to Win - ODDS: 8/5

Lyon are a far cry from the team that looked unstoppable for much of the first decade of the 21st century. Finishing 3rd last season with a record of winning 21, drawing 9, and losing 8, Lyon are currently languishing in 10th this time around, having already lost four matches, although each of those defeats have been by a 1-0 margin. With just three points separating the teams in 3rd and 13th, Lyon know that a good result here could propel them to the upper echelons and give them a great boost in terms of pushing to deliver their pre-season objectives. Momentum is already on their side having won their past two games, 2-0 at home to Metz, and 3-2 away to Toulouse, although Lyon supporters will be nervously aware that the last time they won two league games in a row (at the start of this season), they went on an eight game run without a win.

Moussa Dembele to Score Anytime - ODDS: 29/20
